Aaron Smith was raised in Long Beach CA and has lived in VA and NC as well as NY. His experience and passion are direct marketing, brand building, and empowering business owners with marketing knowledge and understanding of how to generate their own leads.
After graduating from UCSB, Aaron worked at The Bargain Network (www.bargain.com) developing online brand strategy and direct marketing via PPC and Email. Aaron has also worked for 800 Communications and ConsumerBase for brief periods before co-founding Black Book Data.
While in North Carolina, Aaron worked briefly as a loan officer customer care director and realized the difficulty in creating leads for the mortgage business and also other businesses including auto dealerships, insurance, and other types of financial industries where consumers have to navigate financing a product or service from a need or want. After working with several direct marketing companies, Aaron and Jessica started Black Book Data together and began helping the finance industry “make the right connections”.
Regardless of your business model, Aaron believes there is a direct marketing ‘formula’ for your success. This formula is not easy and requires tinkering and changes but the perfect combination of database (list), marketing piece, and ‘incentive’ is what drives results for all businesses.
Hobbies & Interests
In addition to his love of marketing, Aaron enjoys playing tennis weekly, running, and going out with friends. Aaron also enjoys traveling and investing as well as coin collecting.
